Students need to have a 1 subject (70 pg.) Composition Notebook in class. We are using it for a Vocabulary Scrapbook for Science and Social Studies!
(1st grading period) 2010-08-09 Back to school stuff such as agenda use, procedures and "getting to know you" activities. We are currently collecting fees, lunch forms, pink team packets, etc... Your child received an agenda today. It is very important that they bring it to school daily. We will use this to communicate and to help your child stay organized. Please, sign the agenda at the bottom whenever you check it. Thank you for your support! 2010-08-10 Finish the Name Game; Mission Impossible Lab. **Colt Fest is this Friday. It is 11:15-12:45. Please, look for the green paper that your child will bring home Wednesday. ################################################################################ Science: 2010-08-11 Chapter 1 Section 1; Pre-read; Discuss using powerpoint; Do WB pgs. for Section 1 in class. 2010-08-12 Review Section 1; Do Reinforcement Activity; Chapter 2 Section 2; Pre-read using audio CD; Discuss using powerpoint; Do WB pgs. for Section 2 in class. 2010-08-13 Modified schedule with shortened classes due to Colt Fest; Finish WB pgs. for Section 2; Interview a classmate if you finish assignment. Review WB pgs. from this week for a Quiz on Monday. **We had a great week! Have a nice and relaxing weekend....See you Monday! 2010-08-16 Students worked in their "Vocab. Notebook" (composition notebook); Pg. 1 "ABC Grafitti" Pg. 2 Scientific Method foldable; Students took notes under each section. ***Quiz (10 questions) is postponed until tomorrow. Students need to be able to list the 6 steps of Scientific Method in order. Also, review the WB pgs. for Section 2 about the Scientific Method. This is going to be the first grade taken. 2010-08-17 Quiz #1 over Scientific Method; Video- "Scientific Methods"; Air Ball lab/actvity. (1st Block will do lab tomorrow. They got behind because students were given lockers today!) 2010-08-18 (Return Quiz #1 and record grade on sheet sheet. This should go in front of the papers in Science Section.) Do pg. 3 in Vocab. Notebook- "Concept Map on a Model". I have kept these in the classroom if students are caught up. Read Ch. 1 Section 3 and Do WB pgs. together in class. 2010-08-19 Finish WB pgs for Section 3 together. Study this for Quiz #2 tomorrow. Brain Pop Video: "Newton's Laws of Motion" and "Imagination"; Do question 1-5 on Pg. 9 and Pg. 17. These were turned in today. Students were assigned a Science Book today if they needed it to finish work. 2010-08-19 **All students were assigned and given a Science Book. THIS BOOK MUST BE BROUGHT TO CLASS DAILY! Quiz #2 over Scientific Models; Read and discuss Ch. 1 Section 4 "Engineering Design PRocess"; Worked more on interviews in Block 1 & 2. A few students have not turned in pg. 9 & 17 questions (1-5). ****I will see you guys on Monday! 2010-08-23 Review Ch. 1 Sections 1-4. Then, finish Section 4 discussion. Do WB pgs. Section 4, 1-21. Students had about from about 25-40 minutes to work in class. Puzzle w.s. 2010-08-26 Finish section 5; Take notes in Vocab. notebook 2010-08-27 Video/Quiz-"Measuring Matter"; Ch. 1 Study Guide; Work in Vocab. notebook 2010-08-30 Review; Take Ch. 1 Test; Last day to catch up Vocab. notebook; This Vocab. notebook will be taken up to grade; Assign Social Studies books.....these are to be kept at home for study and homework. We watched a video on "Maps: Types, symbols and ____"; H.W. Take home your Social Studies book and leave it there until May with your Math book! Take a few minutes to review the Atlas and Geography Handbook. 2010-09-01 **Abbreviated Day- students dismissed at 1:20** Fundraiser Kick-off is today! Flipchart review of Map terms; Activity using U.S. physical map to find various bodies of water and landforms & identify their absolute location using map coordinates. 2010-09-02 Brain Pop videos reviewing geography; Globe Quiz; USA Map Search -Use pg. R10/11 to find given landforms and bodies of water from GH14/15. 2010-09-03 Combine information from yesterday's activity; ***Have a nice Labor Day weekend.
